‘Slots’ compromise limits effort to overburden Reagan National Airport operations

Senators Warner and Webb today worked to promote airline safety by modernizing the Federal Aviation Administration’s outdated, radar-based air traffic control system. The Senators also blocked efforts to make large-scale changes that could have significantly overburdened flight operations at Reagan National Airport in Northern Virginia.
Virginia has been awarded more than $26 million for three projects that will expand broadband access in rural areas. These projects will create at least 200 jobs in the near term, and build-out a high-speed Internet platform for additional economic activity in the future.
Senator Warner sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski yesterday asking the FCC to collaborate with Internet service providers and content providers to maintain reasonable consumer access to high-value Internet content.
