Senator Warner visited Rosetta Stone in Harrisonburg for a tour and a town hall meeting with employees. Rosetta Stone is the leading technology-based foreign language education company, founded in Harrisonburg, and it soon will reach 2,000 employees worldwide.
The Senate will act on legislation to help small businesses as soon as they return from the August recess, and the challenges facing Central Virginia's small business owners were front and center as Senator Warner met with about 25 business owners today at Inklings Bookshop in Lynchburg.
Virginia has been awarded more than $26 million for three projects that will expand broadband access in rural areas. These projects will create at least 200 jobs in the near term, and build-out a high-speed Internet platform for additional economic activity in the future.

The Army today accepted an offer from the Northern Virginia Technology Council to assess information technology challenges to Arlington National Cemetery.
Senator Warner sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski yesterday asking the FCC to collaborate with Internet service providers and content providers to maintain reasonable consumer access to high-value Internet content.
Senator Warner announced today that $24 million from the economic stimulus package will go toward funding of two projects that will jump-start Virginia's transition to expanded use of health care information technology and electronic medical records.
The Martinsville Bulletin reports on the $16 million in stimulus funds that will be used to expand broadband Internet infrastructure in Southside and Southwest Virginia.

Senator Warner and U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra announced today that Virginia will receive over $21.5 million to expand broadband and high-speed Internet access throughout southside Virginia. The investments will help bridge the technological divide, boost economic growth, and create jobs in the region.
