It’s not easy limiting a politician to answers of 140 characters or less, so we had a lot of fun today helping Senator Warner conduct his first Twitter Town Hall. As the co-founder of Nextel and a former venture capitalist, the Senator appreciates the role of new technology and he’s a big fan of social media.
Digital safety for kids, reassurance for parents

Senator Warner joined Governor Bob McDonnell on Thursday to launch a new digital literacy program that'l be provided free to Virginia middle school students. My Digital Life teaches 8th and 9th graders how to avoid revealing too much about themselves online, and suggests ways to use the Internet responsibly and safely.
On the ground in India

The billion-plus people of India are experiencing phenomenal growth in their middle class, yet millions currently live in poverty in crowded urban slums. That was a focus of Senator Mark Warner’s visit today as he continues to lead a five-member congressional trip to India.

“America needs to get its ‘swagger’ back,” Senator Warner told the Prince William Chamber of Commerce at a lunch event today. The Senator spoke in Manassas about the need to tackle the deficit crisis in order to move on to the next urgent priority: sparking innovation and job creation.
Wallops as a NASA test range

Members of the Hampton Roads congressional delegation are urging NASA to consider NASA-Wallops for Unmanned Aircraft Systems testing. In a bipartisan letter, Senators Warner and Webb and Congressmen Randy Forbes (R-VA-4) and Scott Rigell (R-VA-2) encouraged NASA to use the Eastern Shore’s NASA facility for a UAS test range.
Senator Warner returned to the Virginia Modeling & Simulation Center campus in Suffolk today to discuss opportunities to build-out the region's mod/sim capabilities.
On the Road in NoVA

A couple Fridays ago, Senator Warner spent a great day on the road in Northern Virginia, visiting Arlington, Herndon and McLean for a series of town halls and other meetings. Progress on Arlington Cemetery

Senator Warner, along with Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) president Bobbie Kilberg and Arlington National Cemeteries Program executive director Kathryn Condon, released a report detailing “a roadmap” to fixing problems with the Cemetery’s record-keeping and administration. The report provides both short-term and long-term recommendations for the Cemetery.
Yesterday, Senator Warner announced that he will join Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) as a co-chair of the Senate India Caucus in January. Senator Warner will take the place of Senator Chris Dodd, who is retiring at the end of the year.
