Eastern District Judicial Vacancy

Previous Applicants:

Thank you for your interest in the vacancy for U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia. If you previously applied for one of the following recent vacancies and would like to be considered for the new EDVA District Court vacancy, you do not need to submit new materials.

  • The Eastern District of Virginia District Court vacancy that will be created when Judge John A. Gibney assumes senior status.
  • The Eastern District of Virginia District Court vacancy created when Judge Liam O’Grady assumed senior status.
  • The Western District of Virginia District Court vacancy created when Judge James P. Jones assumed senior status.
  • The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals vacancy created when Judge Barbara Keenan assumed senior status.  

In lieu of submitting new materials, please submit a cover letter to ed_judge@warner.senate.gov, which informs the senators of your interest in the new Eastern District of Virginia District Court vacancy. The senators will use your previously submitted application and supporting materials to evaluate your candidacy for the new position. However, you may also include any new materials or updates that you wish for the senators to consider.
