Wallops as a NASA test range
Oct 20 2011
Members of the Hampton Roads congressional delegation are urging NASA to consider NASA-Wallops for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) testing. In a bipartisan letter, Senators Warner and Webb and Congressmen Randy Forbes (R-VA-4) and Scott Rigell (R-VA-2) encouraged NASA to use the Eastern Shore’s NASA facility for a UAS test range. Given Wallops’ existing infrastructure, the Senators said, “we strongly believe that Wallops Flight Facility is an ideal location for a UAS test range.”
“Wallops is a great asset for Virginia,” Senator Warner said. “I believe there is great potential for Wallops in the development of the commercial space sector, and I am proud to support additional ventures there that could create crucial high-paying jobs for the Eastern Shore.”
