Today Senator Warner made good on his wager with Idaho Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) on the outcome of the Sept. 6th Virginia Tech/Boise State football game at FedEx Field at Landover, MD.

The Senators had agreed that the lawmaker representing the losing team would pose for photographs on the steps of the U.S. Capitol wearing the winning team’s jersey.

Virginia Tech, unfortunately, lost the game 33-30, and Senator Warner today graciously donned the Boise State football jersey – briefly -- on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. Did we mention briefly?

“What was great was, when we tried to get the Hokies into the ACC, we had to convince people … that Hokie fans traveled, and they were great fans and supporters,” Senator Warner said. “We also saw first class fans from Boise State.”

“The other thing that I can you tell is that the Boise State people felt they were treated very, very civilly here,” Senator Risch responded. “In a stadium with 86,000 people -- and only 10,000-12,000 of them from Idaho – the Hokie fans were incredibly civil before the game, during the game and after the game.”

“Every single Boise State fan is a Virginia Tech fan now,” Senator Risch said.
