Solicitor General and U.S. Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan dropped by Senator Warner's Capitol Hill office today.

Kagan gamely greeted more than two-dozen Warner staffers who gathered to welcome her before joining the Senator for a brief visit in his office.

Senator Warner, who earned a law degree from Harvard in 1980, recalled he first met Kagan more than 15 years ago when she served as dean of the Harvard School of Law. Last year, he voted in support of her successful confirmation as U.S. Solicitor General.

Senator Warner has described Elena Kagan as "a solid choice" for the Supreme Court, and says he looks forward to a fair and timely confirmation process in the Senate.

Kagan's first hearing on the path to confirmation is scheduled for June 28th.
