Funding for our national parks

Senator Warner announced today that Virginia's national parks and historic sites will receive more than $27 million from the economic recovery package to fund 37 projects to upgrade facilities, extend hiking trails, and promote energy efficiency.
Here are the parks and historic sites that will release the funding:

| Colonial National Historical Park (Yorktown) | $1,634,000 |
| Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields Memorial | $1,101,000 |
| George Washington Memorial Parkway | $200,000 |
| Maggie L. Walker House (Richmond) | $94,000 |
| Manassas National Battlefield | $211,000 |
| Petersburg National Battlefield | $563,000 |
| Prince William Forest Park (Triangle) | $5,527,000 |
| Richmond National Battlefield | $579,000 |
| Shenendoah National Park (Luray) | $17,025,000 |
| Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts (Vienna) | $98,000 |
In addition, the Appalachian National State Trail ($613,000), the Blue Ridge Parkway ($13,265), and the George Washington Memorial Parkway ($430,000) will receive additional funding for multi-state projects that include Virginia.
This is part of a $750 million investment by the National Park Service for nearly 800 projects nationwide. The projects aim to preserve and protect national icons and historic landscapes and improve energy efficiecy. For more information on the specific projects that will be funded, click here.
