Two more F-22 oxygen incidents
Jul 10 2012
There have been more safety incidents involving oxygen deprivation of pilots of the stealth F-22 Raptor. Last Friday, an F-22 pilot in Hawaii declared an in-flight emergency – two weeks after a Virginia-based F-22 pilot apparently suffered a similar oxygen deprivation emergency.
Recent incidents with the Air Force’s fleet of F-22 Raptor fighter jets have prompted fresh questions by two members of Congress looking for answers on the oxygen problems that have plagued the aircraft for years.
A new round of troubling incidents involving the F-22 Raptor, including one at Langley Air Force Base, is trying the patience of Sen. Mark R. Warner, who on Tuesday joined with another lawmaker to demand more answers.

Senator Warner Applauds SpaceX Launch
May 22 2012
“As NASA works to develop our next heavy launch vehicle to replace the space shuttle, we have asked the private sector to step up and take over duties of resupply missions to the international space station," Senator Warner said. "Today, SpaceX stepped up and showed we are on the right path."
In a conference call with reporters, Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., and Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., said they were briefed by the Air Force and told that the number of pilots who came forward with complaints has risen from two to nine. Warner called Panetta's action a "step in the right direction" but said questions still remain.
More questions for the Air Force on F-22

Senator Warner sat down yesterday with the two Air Force pilots who blew the whistle on problems with oxygen deprivation on the F-22 Raptor. The pilots drove up from Langley Air Force base in Hampton to share their concerns with the Senator following their interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes on Sunday night.
Sen. Mark R. Warner said Monday he wants an immediate briefing on the F-22 Raptor and called on the Air Force to avoid penalizing the two Virginia-based pilots who have gone public with their concerns. His comments, relayed through a spokesman, came in response to Sunday's "60 Minutes" segment that featured two Raptor pilots from the Virginia Air National Guard based at Langley Air Force Base.
Sen. Mark Warner told employees, volunteers and residents of Bay Aging elderly community something they probably already knew on Tuesday — that 90 percent of Americans think Congress is dysfunctional. "Let me assure you," he added, "that I am in the 90 percent."
