Today the Department of Defense released final plans to resize, refocus and rename Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) in Hampton Roads. Last August, Defense Secretary Robert Gates proposed the complete elimination of JFCOM to save money and promote greater Pentagon efficiency.
Sen. Warner on offshore wind: “Excellent news”

Sen. Warner, who has long advocated an “all-of-the-above,” portfolio approach to alternative energy, applauded today’s big announcement on major offshore wind initiatives: as part of the “Smart from the Start” approach, the federal government will accelerate the preliminary review of potential offshore wind sites along Virginia’s coast.
Virginia’s governor, Sen. Warner and other members of the congressional delegation met for more than an one hour today with U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and afterwards the Virginians were cautiously optimistic about preserving significant pieces of Joint Forces Command in Hampton Roads.
