Next, we headed to HU's radio station to record an interview with the Wil LaVeist Show. Wil prerecorded an interview with the Senator for his Wednesday show on WHOV, asking questions about the Gang of Six deficit reduction effort, as well as working in Congress during such a historically divisive time.
"Nothing is such a hard lift that we shouldn't be able to figure something out," Senator Warner
Finally, Senator (or is it Doctor?) Warner got some hands-on medical simulation experience at Eastern Virginia Medical School, after meeting with students and educators to discuss the region’s recent receipt of a $5 million federal grant to train displaced U.S. workers for high-demand healthcare jobs. Senator Warner practiced with EVMS students on how to suture a cut, and eventually how to resuscitate a patient in cardiac arrest. "If the economy gets any worse we might need to shock it with these paddles instead," the Senator joked.
Tonight Senator Warner will speak at the World Affairs Council of Greater Hampton Roads about the fiscal upheaval in the European Union, and relate it to the fiscal challenges currently facing the United States.
Tomorrow, we'll stay in Norfolk for an Old Dominion University town hall meeting, and then to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughter's for their annual fundraising luncheon.
Stay tuned for more updates.
