Senator Warner and several other members of the Hampton Roads congressional delegation today released a letter to the new Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Jonathan W. Greenert, asking that he take a fresh look at the proposed homeporting of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in Mayport, Florida.

The joint, bipartisan letter from Senators Warner and Jim Webb, and Congressmen Rob Wittman (VA-01), Scott Rigell (VA-02), Bobby Scott (VA-03) and Randy Forbes (VA-04) argues that it is not fiscally responsible or strategically necessary to build a redundant nuclear-support infrastructure to support moving a carrier group to Mayport.
