Our office is kicking off the holiday season today by displaying a gorgeous, 12-foot Fraser fir grown in Grayson County by Rodney and Cynthia Richardson. The Richardsons, who own Mt. Rogers Tree Farm, also are providing a Christmas tree to Governor Bob McDonnell and his family for the executive Mansion in Richmond.
On Thursday, Senator Warner held the fifth and sixth in his series of ‘crowdfunding’ seminars for Virginia entrepreneurs and start up businesses. Today’s events, held in Danville and Blacksburg included panel discussions with a range of business leaders, including a representative from Kiva, the revolutionary online microfinancing platform, and the CEO of Blacksburg’s own Interactive Design & Development.

Senator Warner spoke today at Reboot America, a summit focused on how startups, corporations, and policymakers can collaborate on private sector solutions to public sector challenges and helping to create jobs in the fields of energy, education, health care, national security, and more.
“Crowdfunding has the potential to not only change the way that startup businesses access capital, but to allow entrepreneurs to create and keep jobs in places like Danville or Roanoke,” Senator Warner said today in Arlington at the first of a series of events that he’s holding to help Virginia entrepreneurs better understand how crowdfunding can be a tool for business growth.
