Two more F-22 oxygen incidents

There have been more safety incidents involving oxygen deprivation of pilots of the stealth F-22 Raptor. Last Friday, an F-22 pilot in Hawaii declared an in-flight emergency – two weeks after a Virginia-based F-22 pilot apparently suffered a similar oxygen deprivation emergency.
Recent incidents with the Air Force’s fleet of F-22 Raptor fighter jets have prompted fresh questions by two members of Congress looking for answers on the oxygen problems that have plagued the aircraft for years.
A new round of troubling incidents involving the F-22 Raptor, including one at Langley Air Force Base, is trying the patience of Sen. Mark R. Warner, who on Tuesday joined with another lawmaker to demand more answers.
Strengthening leadership across the Commonwealth

More than 500 people attended the weekend’s first annual Virginia Leadership Summit hosted by the University of Richmond. The gathering was organized by Senator Warner and co-hosted by former U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA-11) with an eye towards strengthening a non-partisan network of community leaders across the Commonwealth.
Senator Warner promoted bipartisan Startup Act 2.0 legislation he is sponsoring on CNN’s John King last night. Startup aims to jumpstart job creation by helping American entrepreneurs win the global competition for talent. Of course, the Senator could not pass up an opportunity to talk about his continuing efforts to craft comprehensive, bipartisan agreement on the deficit.

Extending broadband access in Virginia

Senator Warner recently hosted a strategy session in Fredericksburg to help Virginia localities learn about various funding opportunities and ideas for high-speed broadband deployment.
The legislation bears the names of two Democrats and two Republicans. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., and Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., have joined Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., in sponsoring the Startup Act 2.0, which would promote entrepreneurs.
