Senator Warner launched his four-day, 1,000 mile statewide trip on Tuesday with a veterans event in Fairfax and town hall meetings in Prince William and Richmond.
In his first stop, Sen. Warner promoted a new program in Northern Virginia to help military veterans find technology-related jobs.
"We give a lot of lip service to helping our veterans but not a lot of real action. What you're doing here is real action." Sen. Warner told the I-T industry leaders.
At midday, he spoke at a Leadership Luncheon hosted by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce.
At Beaufont Health Care Center in suburban Richmond, Sen. Warner discussed his Advanced Care Planning Act legislation. The bipartisan proposal would encourage discussions among families and health care providers about a patient's wishes at the end of life.
"The Care Planning Act is about respecting choices, not about making them for people," Sen. Warner emphasized.
The Senator's trip is not all work: he also got a chance to throw out the opening pitch at the Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball game.
"My pitch was a little high," he noted, "but there's nothing worse than a politician bouncing the ball across the plate."
Sen. Warner continues his Virginia tour today with stops in Richmond, Newport News, Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
