Mark R. Warner became Virginia's newest senator today.

Outgoing Senator John Warner and Senator Jim Webb accompanied the new Warner to the Senate floor, where Vice President Dick Cheney administered the oath of office:

The official swearing-in ceremony was followed by a renactment ceremony with Senator Warner's father, wife, and three daughters. 

After the swearing-in ceremonies, Senator Warner hosted a reception for friends and supporters in the historic Russell Caucus Room.  In his brief remarks, the new Senator Warner honored the outgoing Senator Warner, and said he looked forward to working with Senator Webb.
