We ended our trip last week on Thursday in Fredericksburg, where Senator Warner held a town hall meeting with employees of the new Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Then we stopped by the University of Mary Washington's Annual Devil-Goat Day.

A couple Fridays ago, Senator Warner spent a great day on the road in Northern Virginia, visiting Arlington, Herndon and McLean for a series of town halls and other meetings. Senators Warner and Webb today worked to promote airline safety by modernizing the Federal Aviation Administration’s outdated, radar-based air traffic control system. The Senators also blocked efforts to make large-scale changes that could have significantly overburdened flight operations at Reagan National Airport in Northern Virginia.
The Pentagon’s plan to double the size of Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County will add thousands of new commuters to already congested roads and places an unfair burden on state and local governments, a new study requested by Senator Warner has found.

The Army today accepted an offer from the Northern Virginia Technology Council to assess information technology challenges to Arlington National Cemetery.
On July 14, Senator Warner hosted a conference for Virginia businesses seeking to learn more about applying for government contracts. Procurement executives from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense provided insight into best practices and roadblocks.
