Senator Warner released the following statement this evening, after a day of compromise regarding the economic recovery package:

“I am pleased that the Senate will consider a compromise that includes a blend of investments and targeted tax relief that will create jobs for Virginians and that will give President Obama the resources to help re-start our economy.

“As a Governor who worked across the aisle, I was proud to work with the bipartisan group of my Senate colleagues to help craft this compromise.

“Like any compromise, there was give-and-take, but the critical need to take action to stop the record loss of jobs and the pain it has inflicted on families across the country made this agreement essential.

“We have more work to do to address the foreclosure crisis and  shore-up our financial system, but tonight’s agreement is an important first step.”
