Senator Warner says he is angry and embarrassed that we’re facing a possible government shutdown.

“What does that say to the men and women of our military who are engaged in military operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, and over Libya?

“What does it say to the overseas markets, and the people who hold America's $14 trillion debt, that we cannot even agree on a short-term spending bill to keep the lights on?” Senator Warner said in a floor speech today.

“Why should anyone believe we'll be able to work together on the larger fiscal issues that threaten our economic recovery?”

“And what does it say to hundreds of thousands of American families who work for the federal government and provide public services that the American people depend upon?”
