Exploring options for Franklin

Senator Warner and several of his colleagues sent a letter to the CEO and Board of Directors of International Paper, Inc., today, asking for a meeting to discuss the company's decision last week to close their facility in the City of Franklin, which will put 1,100 employees out of work.

The letter, which was co-signed by Senators Jim Webb of Virginia and Kay Hagan of North Carolina, as well as Virginia Congressmen Bobby Scott and Randy Forbes, also asks the CEO for an opportunity to to explore the company's willingness to reconsider the timeline for the eventual shutdown and potential future uses of the facility and site.
