Fixing our short-term deficits and longer-term debt allows our country to focus once again on what it does best: creating the future. Senator Warner delivered that message to the trustees of the Brookings Institute today as they released their year-long study Growth Through Innovation.

The report calls for a renewed emphasis on R&D and innovation, expanded exports, investments in infrastructure, and a return to fiscal discipline and government efficiency – all issue areas where Senator Warner has been active as a legislator.
“It makes no sense to address a short-term budget imbalance by slashing investments in education, workforce training and R&D,” Senator Warner said. “It is imperative that we tackle these tough fiscal challenges now so that we can position our nation to be more competitive in this challenging global economy.”
