Senator Warner met with members of two Virginia search-and-rescue teams today who helped dig Haitians from the rubble after a devastating earthquake.

Representatives of the Virginia Beach and Fairfax County search and rescue squads told Senator Warner about their challenges in getting speedy transportation to Haiti after the January quake, and their long-standing issues about finding suitable locations for adequate training.

In all, the Fairfax and Virginia Beach teams sent more than 150 firefighters, medical and engineering professionals to Haiti -- and they worked together to rescue a combined 19 people.

Senator Warner extended his personal thanks to the team members, and arranged for a special tour of the White House for them.
