FOX & Friends: momentum for "going big"
Nov 03 2011
Senator Warner says there is growing support on Capitol Hill for the debt supercommittee to act boldly to address the nation’s $14 trillion debt.
“One way we can tell if this is serious is by seeing whose head is spinning,” the Senator told FOX & Friends, noting that groups both on the right and left are opposed to some aspects of the negotiations.
Senator Warner also mentioned the bipartisan group of 45 senators he helped organize to encourage the supercommittee to go big. “We’re saying, c’mon supercommitee, if you go big, we’ve got your back.”
A similar bipartisan campaign has been launched in the House, where more than 100 members now support a comprehensive deficit reduction packcage.
The Senator also talked to FOX & Friends about A Billion + Change, a new effort that will work to get corporations better involved in their communities by mobilizing their workforce in skills-based volunteering and pro-bono services.
“This is an effort to get corporations to give back, not just by writing a check, but getting their actual individuals and company involved in the community,” Senator Warner said. “There’s a lot of big business bashing these days, but there’s a lot of good that corporations do, and we want to highlight that.”
