Senators Warner and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) joined “The Lead with Jake Tapper” to encourage using data and analytics to figure out what government does well – and what does not work well. The senators have been leaders in bipartisan efforts to use performance data to drive policy and funding decisions.
“Billy Beane famously transformed baseball when he took his data-driven Oakland A’s to the playoffs and went head-to-head with the big-spending teams. Moneyball for Government calls for applying the same data-driven approach to government – ensuring that we spend scarce taxpayer dollars on the most effective and efficient solutions to address the great challenges facing our nation,” Results for America wrote in their Moneyball for Government book release.
Senator’s Warner and Ayotte, co-chairs of the Government Performance Task Force on the Budget Committee, are leading the charge in the Senate towards bipartisan solutions to increase government efficiency and reducing waste.
“This is not a Democratic or Republican approach, this is a data-driven approach to how we govern,” Sen. Warner told CNN.
“We want to do is make sure that we're investing our taxpayer dollars on programs that actually work. We've got to base our decisions on metrics, data and look at whether these programs getting results for the American people,” said Sen. Ayotte.
