Co-hosted by Lt. Gov. Bolling, University of Richmond President Ed Ayers

Jun 19 2013

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) will host the second annual Virginia Leadership Summit on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the University of Richmond. The nonpartisan Summit brings together graduates of Virginia’s leadership development programs for high-level conversations about challenges and opportunities for Virginia in education, workforce development, and job creation. Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and University of Richmond President Dr. Edward L. Ayers will co-host Saturday’s Summit, and Gov. Bob McDonnell is scheduled to attend Friday night’s opening reception at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

“I am proud to once again host the Virginia Leadership Summit to encourage wide-ranging discussions and unique networking opportunities for the next generation of Virginia leaders,” Sen. Warner said. “We must continue strengthening a nonpartisan network of community leaders from across the Commonwealth who are interested in opportunities to work together to maintain Virginia’s competitive edge.”

“I am honored to co-host the Virginia Leadership Summit with Senator Warner and President Ayers,” said Lt. Gov. Bolling. “One of the most important challenges facing our country today is the need for people to work together on a bipartisan basis to find solutions to the critical challenges we face.  That's what the Virginia Leadership Summit is all about.  The Summit will unite a wide array of community leaders for an open and honest conversation on the challenges facing our state. I am excited about this opportunity to help advance the need for a more mainstream approach to politics and policy in Virginia."

Saturday’s Summit keynote speaker and moderator will be bestselling author and business consultant Andy Stefanovich, who has consulted with companies like GE, WellPoint, Coca-Cola and The Gap. He teaches practical leadership skills that promote innovation, an approach which is outlined in his bestselling book Look at More.

This year’s Leadership Summit is the second hosted by Sen. Warner. The 2012 Summit drew more than 500 participants from across Virginia.
