Senator Warner was on the radio this morning across Virginia discussing the federal budget and the prospect of a government shutdown this Friday.

“This is no way to run a railroad – or a government,” Senator Warner told Jimmy Barrett on WRVA’s Richmond Morning News.

And on WTOP in Washington, Senator Warner discussed his leading role in the “Gang of Six” to reach a bipartisan agreement on a longer-term budget plan that begins to tackle serious deficit and debt issues.

“We have got to move beyond this ‘small ball’ and demonstrate that we’re serious about taking real action on our nation’s long-term debt. The question isn’t ‘if’ we’re going to do is – it’s ‘when.’ And I, for one, would rather do this now, when we can map it out in a responsible way over several years.”
