On Sunday, two deputies in Buchanan County were killed and two others were injured in a shoot-out with a robbery suspect. More details are available at the Bristol Herald Courier website.

A representative from our office will attend tonight’s community candlelight vigil at the Buchanan County Courthouse to deliver this  message from Senator Warner:

“My thoughts are with the residents of this community, and my prayers are with the families and friends of the victims of Sunday’s horrible events.

 Deputies Justus and Stiltner made the ultimate sacrifice, and a grateful county, commonwealth and country honors their public safety service and sacrifice.

 Our prayers today are for the healing of the injured law enforcement officers, Deputies Rasnake and Charles.

 Please know that the thoughts of all Virginians are with the families of Buchanan County tonight, and tomorrow and the day after that, and if there is anything our office can do to support, protect and heal this community, please let us know.
