Rail to Dulles International Airport took a huge step forward this morning as U.S Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood signed a formal agreement to provide $900 million in funding for the project – the third largest public transit project in U.S. history.

Senator Warner, who worked on the Dulles rail project as a member of the Commonwealth Transportation Board way back in 1991 and as Governor of Virginia between 2002-06, said it’s a crucial infrastructure project that’s been discussed for more than 40 years.

“This will create jobs right away and help boost the national capital region’s  primary airport as well as the Dulles technology corridor,” Senator Warner said.

The Dulles corridor is home to 2,300 companies employing 250,000 people.
