Super Typhoon Haiyan, which battered the Philippines last week, is being reported to be the strongest storm in recorded history.

Virginia, especially Hampton Roads, is home to a significant and vibrant Filipino-American population. 

If you cannot locate a loved one, please contact the Southeastern Virginia chapter of the American Red Cross, which has offered tracing services for family members looking for missing people.

Additionally, please consider donating funds to one of the organizations highlighted by Charity Navigator, which scores non-profits by their transparency and how efficiently they use their donations to help people. They’ve put together a list of highly-ranked disaster relief organizations that are serving those affected by Haiyan.
