WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine announced nearly $8.4 million in funding for organizations working to provide unaccompanied minors who fled violence in Central America with services including temporary shelters and foster care programs. These grants will help organizations in Arlington, Bristow, and the Shenandoah Valley fund services for the children.

“These local organizations have stepped up to help children who found themselves here through no fault of their own, and we’re proud to announce this funding that will go towards groups providing shelter and foster care programs for these children in need,” said Warner and Kaine.

The $8,399,060 in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grants will be disbursed to the following organizations:

·       The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants in Arlington will receive $4,361,450;

·       The Youth for Tomorrow – New Life Center in Bristow will receive $2,919,613;

·       The Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center in Staunton will receive $1,117,997.
