Sen. Warner on the Passing of Charlie Wampler
Jan 16 2017
WASHINGTON— U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) issued this statement on the passing of former Del. Charles W. Wampler Jr.:
“Few people gave more of themselves to the community and civic life of the Shenandoah Valley than Charlie Wampler. Whether it was as a business leader, serving in the state legislature, or working with one of the many charitable organizations and institutions that he championed, Charlie was always determined to give back. When I visited him over the summer at Sunny Slope, we talked about his work at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where he was still volunteering regularly – at the age of 100.
“I will always be grateful to Charlie for his early support, dating back to my first campaign for the Senate in 1996, and I will miss his friendship. I extend my deepest condolences to Barbara, Libby, Margaret, and their entire family during this time.”
