Virginia’s governor, Sen. Warner and other members of the congressional delegation met for more than an one hour today with U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and afterwards the Virginians were cautiously optimistic about preserving significant pieces of Joint Forces Command in Hampton Roads.

Senator Warner had a fun and wide-ranging conversation this morning with Rick Rumble on the "Rumble in the Morning Show" on WNOR-FM99 in Norfolk.

Working with his colleagues from Virginia and Marlyand, including Senator Jim Webb and Congressman Jim Moran, Senator Warner successfully added $300 million to the FY2011 military construction appropriations bill to specifically address ways to mitigate current and future traffic congestion at Fort Belvoir and Maryland's Bethesda Naval Hospital.

To kick-off the three-day 2009 Modeling & Simulation World Expo in Virginia Beach this week, Senator Warner hosted a "Virginia Summit on Modeling & Simulation." The conference, held yesterday, was organized to promote Hampton Roads' growing role in the high-tech modeling & simulation field.

Senator Warner recently spoke about the need for energy innovation during the Council on Competitiveness' National Energy Summit and International Dialogue.
