Press Releases

WASHINGTON— U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA), Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement regarding the release of University of Virginia (UVA) student Otto Warmbier from North Korea:

“After what was nearly a year-and-a-half long nightmare, Otto Warmbier and his family will finally be reunited.

“However, I am concerned to learn of the condition of his return. Though I urge others to continue to honor the family’s wish for privacy, the North Korean regime must be held accountable for Mr. Warmbier’s current medical condition, and answer the calls to release the remaining three Americans currently detained—including another Virginian.”
