Sens. Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine announced today that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development and the New College Foundation a $500,000 grant to expand the New College Institute (NCI) in Martinsville.

With a USDA Inspector General report having revealed that some horse trainers are too often evading federal law requiring them to use humane training practices, U.S. Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) announced today that they have introduced bipartisan legislation to protect horses from the cruel training tactic known as “soring” – which inflicts pain on horses’ forelegs to produce an accentuated show gait for competition
Sen. Warner and Rep. Scott Rigell (R-VA-02) joined Andrea Mitchell Reports today to urge Congress to come together and replace the devastating spending cuts required under sequestration with a long-term, bipartisan fix before returning home to their districts for August recess.
Senator Warner dropped by the new Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond this morning. The Center opened last week and offers 17 acres of practice and workout facilities. Over the weekend, more than 25,000 fans came to watch the team practice.
