Senator Warner has honored another “Great Federal Employee:” Ann Martin of Vienna, Virginia. Martin is a Senior Intelligence Research Specialist for the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. She worked with Mexican officials to help disrupt the laundering of billions of dollars derived from illegal U.S. narcotics sales.

Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner and Congressmen Jim Moran and Gerry Connolly today announced the approval of $180 million for the widening of Route 1 through Ft. Belvoir to accommodate the influx of new military and civilian personnel and hospital traffic related to BRAC.
Senator Warner appeared on Morning Joe with Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) yesterday morning. The Senators discussed their original “Gang of Six” effort, along with their new 45-Senator strong push for a more comprehensive deficit reduction package from the supercommittee.
Fort Monroe to become National Monument

President Obama is expected to designate Hampton’s Fort Monroe a unit of the National Park Service tomorrow afternoon. Senator Warner and the region’s bipartisan congressional delegation have encouraged the President to use his authority under the Antiquities Act to preserve the Fort, which the Army transferred to Virginia last month.
